Reviews: JACKS OF COLOR and THE OMEGA PARTY

One of the blog readers, who seems to attend every party that I don't (we're a great team!) offered to send me some short reviews of his adventures. We've been emailing back and forth for some time about a lot of parties. Here's two short reviews of JACKS OF COLOR (JoC) and THE OMEGA PARTY.

"As for the JoC party I attended at Paddles last night: Paddles is a relatively nice and clean space as such play spaces go. This is the first time I've been there. Relative to the size of the space and by the accounts of others I spoke to who have attended JoC parties held there before, this party was not particularly well attended, probably due to the holiday weekend and perhaps too because it was a special party that may not have been part of the consciousness of those who attend regularly.

People were of all sizes and shapes: a few young and trim but many beefier types. There was a lot of anal activity, which is not my cup of tea so from the viewpoint of what I like to do (oral) it was less than ideal. I'm not interested in doing oral with anyone who's been in someone's butt so when there is a lot of << anal (not oral)>> going on I feel my opportunities are limited.

(Also) I went to Omega a few weeks ago for the first time, I guess just before they stopped using the W.46th St. location. Despite the statements of the hosts that "our patrons like it pitch black this way" in response to my comments that I thought it was too dark, others there I spoke to said they did NOT like it that way, that being able to see other guys was arousing to them (as it is for me). Nevertheless I stayed, groped my way around and over-all had a reasonably good time."

I've never been to JACKS OF COLOR, because I hear that they are not very selective (and I am), but have heard some reasonably good reviews of the party. They have parties every Monday night and sometimes on Thursdays, and weekends. Also, the host of the JoC is a legend among some of the other hosts. I have been to OMEGA, but not for a long time. Now that they've moved to Long Island City, I've gotten some good reviews of it, but the sex would have to be very hot to get me to Queens. Guys, if you want to go, here's the contact info...

Review: THE OMEGA PARTY -- Long Island City, Queens

This review is from a reader who is a constant visitor to NYC and always takes advantage of the sex parties when he's here. I suggested THE OLYMPUS PARTY @the Gramercy Duplex for Friday night (as they listed a party on their website), but I hear that they are not hosting every Friday anymore. This is his review of THE OMEGA PARTY, which he hit up on Friday night. As you know, OMEGA is now in Queens, here's what he has to say...

"Since there was no duplex party last night I decided to give give the omega party a try. I'm not sure about tonight. Maybe the load party or something else if you think it might interest me. I'm not looking for a repeat of last night even though it wasn't terrible. I'm really looking for some younger Latino "papi chulos", as you can see in my omega experience, I love those Latin guys with juicy lips and asses.

It was very easy to find from manhattan. I took the r train from the east side to 36 and northern blvd. Just a about a block down I found the address and went up to the second floor. I was a little concerned because all the signs, including the buildings address !, were written in black magic marker on plain white paper. But it was all cool once I went inside. Nice people at the door and clothes check.
The place is really big. At least four big rooms and connecting areas, a few closable booths, curtained cubby holes and plenty of "beds" to fuck around. All the furnishing and lighting seemed to have picked up along the streets or at the salvation army. So did some of the guys!
I like to strip naked but about half of the guys had some type of under ware or jock straps and a few kept on their shorts and t-shirts with baseball hats. One guy had on his black chaps and chains.
I arrived about 9:30 and left at 1:30. There were at least 50 guys there the whole time. I didn't see a single "wow, he's gorgeous" but thankfully there were a few younger guys (early 20s) and one or two my age (36) or a little younger that had decent bodies. Thankfully they also found me to be attractive too so we played on and off the entire time. I met up with a guy I've met at other venues in ny and we stuck together all night playing and being played with. He was one of the hottest guys there in regard to sexiness, Latino, 23, baseball cap, juicy ass and lips with big floppy cock and balls.
There were at least eight "old" guys, probably in their late 50s or 60s. These guys weren't in good shape from an esthetic or orthopedic perspective; at least two must have checked their canes at the door! I'm not being mean (I might be there in a few years), just accurate. At least they weren't obnoxious or aggressive.
There were also quite a few Asian guys. Usually I'm attracted to Asian guys but with the exception of two of them, not last night. One of the guys was really tall, mid-thirties, decent body and super sweet and the other cutie was really small, great body, and the tiniest dick I've ever seen. The little guy was all over my friend and me (a good thing) and I "jerked" him off to his great delight.
In every room there was at least one or two guys who laid around with their asses up in the air waiting to be mounted. I didn't see a lot of action with them but there was plenty of action in all the corners and cubbies. There was no posing and plenty of plowing. Most guys didn't attract me at all but no one was really fat or repulsive. Just a matter of preference.
One of the rooms is completely dark and it seemed to me that this was the busiest room in the rainbow loft. Constant moans and bed shaking as well as generated heat and musk. I couldn't "see" anything but I sure could sense that this was not the place I wanted to be. Thankfully it was possible to pass through there without too much contact but impossible not to be impacted in some way by the dark bustle of writhing testosterone. Not for me but obviously the pot of gold for many
Yes, I would go back. Why? Because it's close to where I stay and there were at least a few guys who interested me. Not a great pay off but not a big investment either.

Just to add one thing to my review of the omega party,Condoms and lube were only available at the clothes check. They need to have them in the rooms too, especially for us naked guys who can't stash them in our socks or baseball caps."

Two Reviews: The Omega Party & Dads N Lads

A friend who regularly sends me reviews for AGS, just gave me these two reviews of THE OMEGA PARTY, recently relocated to Long Island City, Queens; and DADS'N'LADS, which goes back and forth from Brooklyn to Gramercy. Interesting reviews, here's his report...

"I've recently attended The Omega Party and Dads N Lads, and here are some of my thoughts:

I went to the Omega Party on Sunday June 5th, which was one of the first few events after the party moved to Queens. I got there around 9/10 and there were about 30-40 guys there. It is a huge space so it was often hard to keep track. The size of the place also made the party seem sparse on occasion The large space was well-suited for the party, there were four rooms with small beds or futons, a tv area (with a tiny tube tv playing porn) and one paritcularly dark room. There were also what appeared to be cubicles, which actually served nicely as private booths for playing, and the countertops in them were just the right height for fucking. There were a fair mix of handsome and average guys and a few "untouchables", but overall I really enjoyed myself. There was definitely a mix of races and body hair, though not as many hairy guys as I would've liked. As the last reviewer said, the guys at this party are ready to get down to business - I was getting fucked within 7 minutes of getting out of my clothes. The guys here weren't in perfect shape (not sure I saw any 6packs) but that doesn't bother me in the least. I suppose they're "average", but then again that is a very subjective term. I'd definitely go to this party again, though it would be nice if, as the clothes-check guy said, the party picked up as people got used to the new location. I'd also probably go a bit earlier since the crowd thinned pretty fast towards midnight (probably because it was a Sunday).

I also attended the Dads N Lads party this past Saturday, the 18th. In stark contrast to the last reviewer's experience, there was a very decent ratio of dads to lads and plenty of fucking and other action, pretty much the whole time I was there (from about 11 to 2:30). Although I do enjoy my dads, I'd have to say there was a better selection of guys at the Omega party. This party was mostly black and white guys with a fair number of furry men though again, not as many as I would want at a party. Of course, this isn't necessarily the party's fault and it could have just been that particular night's group. I did find a couple guys to have fun with and one super-hot daddy type with whom I had a lovely romp. My main complaint about this party would have to be the space (which is odd since it's apparently used often for sex parties). The downstairs area has a few futon-type dealies to play on and then there's a bed in the middle of the second floor loft, but this tended to mean that there was a bit of action on that bed and a bunch of guys standing around watching and waiting. I don't mind being watched, but I felt that if there were some more dark corners or play spaces that the party would have flowed better. There were also a couple of guys who kept splaying themselves on the bed for extended periods of time with their asses presented for fucking, but without getting any takers. Regardless of whether I thought these guys were attractive, it was pretty annoying to find a buddy to play with and struggle to find a place on the bed because some guy is taking up a bunch space by himself with his legs in the air. In hindsight, I probably should've mentioned something to the host. I was also a bit perplexed by the severity with which the host enforced the "one at a time in the bathroom" rule. There was even a guy who stood guard over the door, as opposed to the lawless bathroom at the Omega party (which people respectfully used one at a time). I might try this party again, though I'd strongly prefer to check out the Brooklyn location to see the venue and the different crowd it might draw (hopefully I can make it to tonight's party and report back, but I'm not sure how my schedule will work out).

Review: The Omega Party's new location in Long Island City, Queens

Hey guys, THE OMEGA PARTY moved to Long Island City, Queens a couple of weeks ago. I've haven't been to this party since they were near Times Square. The review is a positive take of most of the other review I've ever received on THE OMEGA PARTY. If you're in Queens, and into guys into their 40s (especially bears), who are not "gym rats", then give it a shot...

"Went to The Omega Room for the first time Friday night. Got there during the first hour (it opened at 9) and stayed until nearly 3, so I did my hours. I was told there were about 70 guys that night.

The place was in only its second week on Northern Boulevard in Queens. I know the Omega Room used to be in midtown but I never got there. Northern Boulevard is easy to get to, at least from Midtown, Brooklyn, Queens etc.

There is a good amount of space – about six rooms of different sizes some with spaces curtained off or partitioned. Most of the action took place in one of the darker rooms.

Because the location is so new, both space and crowd have an unfinished quality – lots of people said that the crowd would grow once all adjusted to Queens, and some of the wood construction was raw. Condoms were available, but they could be in more locations, and the single porn screen was not very large.

The crowd was white, black, latin, asian, average age about 40, which is my age and fine by me. There were a few twentysomething guys but not many. If you only like gym rats, this is not the place. If you like bears, you’ll have more choices. There were only a couple of real trolls, but you could fend them off pretty easily.

The guys were frisky and unpretentious. They come to have sex, not stand & model. I was the same and I had a good time. As more people get used to Northern Blvd and the hosts continue to design the space, it can only get better."

Sounds like a good party, if that's what you're looking for. I've only heard good things about the hosts, who are very attentive to the crowd. Here's the info...

Review: OMEGA PARTY (There's a Reason the Rooms are so Dark)

Well, guys on this dreary cold, rainy day in New York, I have to post one of the most negative reviews, I have yet posted. I HATE to trash parties!!!! A reader and I were emailing last week about the INFINITY review. We kept saying that the party could be very HOT, which I why I didn't want to trash it, but it needs work. I hope guys keep trying INFINITY --I plan on checking it out. It has possibilities! The host does need to keep charge, otherwise it could devolve into the nightmare that is almost every party at that pit known as the Gramercy Duplex.

So on to this review. I gotta say, that I was not at this party, but I have been to THE OMEGA PARYTY before, and could see how it might head into this direction. Two thing I can't stand at parties -- unwanted gropers and the smell of shit. Seriously! Either makes me lose a hard on in about a second. Both are gross, and both unnecessary. Dudes--if you're gonna bttm, ple3ase clean out! It's easy and takes 5 minutes. And this happens with hot guys as well. I was fucking this hot dude at NYJOCK party and suddenly I should smell shit. Bastard! Ran to the bathroom and scrubbed myself. So unnecessary. And as to unwanted gropers--well, I've said more than enough about that. Guys, if someone is having sex and you're not wanted -- MOVE ON. Well, if you want to read a review that trashes a party, read on...


"Dear Evan, Went to the Omega party last night, where I had gone four times before and had a reasonably good time. Since I have totally given up on the Ed and Steve party due to their no-standards, open-door policy, I was really hoping Omega would hold itself to a higher standard. Alas, it seems that the tribe that has totally ruined the Ed and Steve party is determined to wreck Omega, as well. You know the type: over 70 years of age, morbidly obese, with bad liver spots everywhere, a slack jaw in which a little spittle has gathered in the corners, wearing old, yellowed Fruit of the Looms whose elastic bands gave up the ghost years ago lending them a diaper-like appearance, their shuffling gait clad with the additional accessory of shower shoes that look like they were last worn by an inmate from Bellevue. Invariably, these types are always the ones who can’t take No for an answer, and who repeatedly horn in on any hot action they see, deflating erections far and wide.

Another problem that the back rooms of Ed and Steve’s party and the Omega party share is “The Do-Do Problem.” You know: guys who are so inconsiderate that they won’t even douche before the party, yet insist on getting fucked until they clear the room with blasts of fecal odor. Last night at the Omega party, I had to leave the back room twice because of The Do-Do Problem. Strangely, the odor only managed to scare away about half of the backroom occupants. Is scat the new black (or brown?) in the gay community and I simply missed the memo?

So I would pose this question to my community: given that there are plenty of highly-exclusive parties for younger gay men, why is it that we can’t seem to have a party for 40-somethings and 50-somethings in good shape, who bathe and douche and have good sexual etiquette? It seems that there are just two kinds of parties: those for gym rats under 30, and no-standards, open-door parties for everyone else. Party hosts: listen up! A lot of us are simply staying home because you don’t offer us what we are looking for. Can somebody start up a party that caters to us? Please?Pretty please?"


I do think the review is wrong that there aren't parties for guys 40-50 with decent dudes. Parties such as HARD DRIVE and THE CLUB HOUSE ORGIES are two example of parties that do not have age cuts off, as long as the guys are in good shape. The reason that these two parties are NOT nightmares like some of the others is that the hosts keep the parties under control. They make sure that guys are taking NO for an answer and keep an eye on what's going on. Also both these hosts created these parties because they enjoy the scene and that are NOT there just to make a fast buck. I am sorry to post this review for OMEGA. The hosts have always been helpful and friendly to me, but they really need to take control back so that their parties can be fun again, and not about groping obese guys, and selfish unclean dudes, who don't care about creating a good time for everyone. I knew this wasn't the last we'd hear on this. As soon as I posted this I got two rebuttals and a response from the host. So here we go guys...

REBUTTAL: "THE omega party , I think is one of the most successful and best run parties .Ive been going to the Omega and to all the other ones for like 10 years. Most of these parties have darkrooms . I was at the Omega party last night , the place was packed , I didnt smell any shit and had a very good time .There were a few older guys but also guys in their 30"s and 40"s."

REBUTTAL 2: "This is my first time writing to you.I go to the Omega party all the time .I always have a great time and the space is great. Im 40 years old and in great shape .Recently theirs been a flickiring light int the back room and I asked one of the workers and he said its a refresher with senses that goes off anytime anybody walks by.So I think that guy who complained must have been confused with the smell .I was their last night I didnt smell any shit. The place was full of people and I got fucked 3 times. If your a stuck up person looking for studs only , this place not for you.But if your looking for a laidback nice space with a mix crowd ....The backroom does get packed but theirs plenty of area in the front to do one on ones and theirs a private room aswell. I did see a big guy there, very rare I ve seen such a big guy at the Omega party, but He was hanging with a regular that comes all the time. I think the reason the host let him in is becuase the regular brought him as a guest and the host didnt want to be rude.But personlly I enjoyed myself and it was a pretty good crowd overall."

FROM THE HOST: "Want to mention , that only two persons complained all night , One about "shit in the back room" , someone that hardly ever comes to the party (only like one time per year) and another about that it was a little warm which we then turned up the airconditioner.
Yet we checked the backroom and didnt smell anything and the back room was full of people. After the party we checked the backroom , their wasnt shit anywhere not even in the used condoms. We have an air freshener connected to the wall outlet it the backroom during the party so maybe he thought it was shit but it wasnt."

I wasn't there, so I can only report what come in. If you want to add your thoughts, send me an email. The "shit" problem is a problem everywhere, and not only at OMEGA -- and I have no doubt that if you complain the hosts will look into it. The old groper problem is only at parties where the hosts don't take charge because they don't want to lose a paying customer. What some parties -- like most at the Gramercy Duplex -- don't understand is that to keep the old gropers, they've lost everyone else. Hope you'll give OMEGA another chance. The host is very cool and trying to keep the party on mark -- which isn't as easy as it looks -- or I'd host too. Try OMEGA tonight, and report back!

OKAY. I WAS WRONG, THIS POST IS GOING TO CONTINUE. THE ORIGINAL REVIEWER, WANTED TO ADD THIS STATEMENT...

"Hi Evan,Just to clarify, I'm not holding Omega responsible for the intermittent smell of shit in their backroom. They did investigate, and because the smell had cleared by the time they got back there, they didn't detect anything. But I am holding the guys with dirty, undouched asses completely responsible. You guys should be more considerate.

What I do take Omega to task for is their relaxed door policy, which seems to get more relaxed every time I go (which has been four times in the past six months, and not once a year as the host said). This crowd seems to be turning in the wrong direction because the hosts let in anybody and everybody (and I say "anybody and everybody" because I cannot possibly imagine grosser guys than the morbidly obese, 70-somethings than I saw shuffling around that night).

I have a pretty average body, and I don't expect everyone to be a Greek statue. But what conclusion would you draw about a party if you saw guys there who were well over 300 lbs, and not carrying it well at all, certainly not a nice chunky bear type, but just a disgusting, saggy, hugely fat old (70-plus) retiree? I DO hold Omega completely responsible for their lack of judgment on that count.

If nobody but me objects to those guys at Omega, then God bless them, and they can enjoy the party without worrying that I will be around to complain. But I think that, unless the host gets his act together and has the balls to say No to a $22 entry fee from a few of these gross types so that the party will continue to have a good vibe, then this one will eventually go the way of Ed and Steve.

The space is great, and the staff are very kind (possibly the nicest I've seen with the exception of Lidell, who's a hard act to follow). But their door policy has made me unwilling to come back."

THE OMEGA PARTY review

Dudes, here's a review about THE OMEGA PARTY from one of my readers. I did go to this party once -- and it wasn't really my thing: too many out-of-shape guys, and older guys grabbing at me (not my idea of a good time). Also the sauna and showers always seem to be broken. BUT, here is a guy who obviously had a hot time there. Here's his words, not mine...


"I went to The Omega Club last nite. It was packed . There must have been over 100 guys there. Some were hot and some were not. They have a great mix of Latinos , Asian guys, Black guys and White guys. I like the location. There are a couple of dark rooms and a living room with a couch. There was lots of action going on all over the place. I might have to go on Sunday night as well. Lol. They had lots of different age groups from 20s to 50s. If. Anhow I was impressed. Cheers."



AGAIN, the last time I checked out this party this summer, it wasn't very hot, but the space was GREAT. I find it hard to believe that the party is hot, because they have open admission (hell, the address is on their website), and when I was there they didn't turn anyway away. Still, maybe it's time to check it out again. If you're interested, here's the info..

THE OMEGA PARTY (Times Square): Another Review

Sorry to keep ragging on THE OMEGA PARTY, but another friend sent me the review below -- so far it's one for, three against (if you count my vote). One dude sent me a review complaining about the crowd a week ago, so I went to the party myself on Sunday -- NOT so hot -- and I left after about 30 minutes. Lot of guys in their 60s (yes, that means they were born in the 1940s). And even that's cool, but they were not active at the gym in the last 20 years. Anyway, another friend sent me a note later bitching that I went too early (I was there about 8:30). He said the party was much hotter starting about 10:30. Anyway, now another guy sent me this review -- totally backing up what I said! So, maybe we should give it another shot (later this time), but here is the third review in two weeks, decide for yourself who's right...

"My wingman and i checked out the omega party this past sunday. we're not exactly relative newcomers to the group sex circuit. between us we've checked out testosterone/olympus party, new york jacks, the encores party and new york men's bondage club at paddles. not to mention we're regulars at our favorite event, the bana pool party. i'd say we've got a pretty good handle on what makes a hot, fun sex party. omega wasn't so hot. in fact, it was pretty rough. what was good: the decor, the music, and the refreshments. but who cares about those things, right? what was bad: the sauna wasn't working, the showers were cramped, and it was far too dark to (1) see hot guys having sex and (2) figure out if you wanted to hook up with somebody. and maybe it was a just a fluke, but for the couple of hours we were there, over HALF the guys were old and asian (neither of which happens to be our type). my wingman said its the worst party he's ever been to. i'd like to give omega the benefit of the doubt and say it will improve over time, but i don't think we'll be going again any time soon. --Kyle"
