Review: THE LOAD PARTY

THE LOAD PARTY in the East Village is another party I've never had a chance to go to, but have heard mixed things about it -- some guys said that it was hot, others not, and most guys complained about the space. Here's another blog reader's report...

"Hey guy, Just thought that I would send a review for The Load Party in the basement of Blue Video. I showed up about an hour after the party started, at 1 am. It was a small small group of guys, with no door policy, and an awkward setup. (An empty space that is divided by a black shed). I'm a fan of safe playing group action and I'm not a cold fish, but I found it hard to get into standing in a basement with no where to fuck, broken chairs, a tub full of soda as a bar, an un-stocked bathroom, and air conditioning blasting on overdrive. I stayed for a few hours thinking that a few more guys would show up but gave up and went home. The guys were mixed, lots of standing, and what action was ehhh... snore."

Too bad -- always sounded like this party had possibilities. Maybe they can stil pull it off.

Reviews: NYJOCK, AM-NYC and LOAD NYC Parties

Hey guys -- love getting reviews from readers of the blog, and this review is great as it compares three parties -- including two of my favorites: NYJOCK and AM-NY parties. Both always filled with hot guys. The next NYJOCK PARTY is tomorrow (Friday) night--and should be very hot. If you're not wiped out from all the hot sex at PRIVATE PARTY last night (seemed like 100 guys; next one is June 29), then after reading the review below you'll suck it up and hit the NYJOCK tomorrow. Here's the report...

"Hi Evan, Firstly, thank you so much for your blog. I visited NYC earlier this month and would never have found out about this world without your work. I had always fantasized about such events buy never thought in reality that they actually happened!

In the interests of 'paying it forward' here are reviews of the 3 parties I attended, with mixed results:

(NYJP) This party ran 10-5 and as suggested, I arrived late at 3am. This was probably a bit late- it was starting to wind down by the time I arrived. As previously reviewed it was a very attractive crowd but fairly stand off ish. Lots of guys who wanted to hook up with just one guy and seemed to find the others around annoying- that's what grindr is for- 1 on 1s! The space is pretty good- spacious and comfortable with lots of flat surfaces for action. There was plenty of sucking but not a huge amount of fucking. Would attend again but only to see if there were more eager people there.

(AM NYC) I returned to the same venue as the Jock party from the previous weekend. The party ran later (11-6) and I got there about 2. Completely different atmosphere- still the same quality and amount of guys (30ish) appearance wise but everyone was going for it madly and the party was in full-swing. I was spit-roasted within 3 minutes of cloaking my stuff!! Everyone seemed much, much friendlier and more inclusive and keener on group action than 1 on 1. No hesitations, no inhibitions and little rejections because it was a consistently attractive crowd. There was one troll that had been at the jock party (I know exactly who previous reviewers mean) and I also don't know how he got through the door as he stood out like a sore thumb but to his credit he did not pester anyone and waited until someone showed him interest (no one did). I met a hot guy and we flip-flopped on the very open porn area which was daring yet hot then spent the rest of the night moving around together chatting and doing other guys together. We finished up taking turns fucking this cute young and very capable Italian btm really hard again and again then both coming all over his back. Was one of the hottest nights of my life- lost count of how many times I was fucked, I fucked and sucked. I stayed 3 hours! Its interesting how the crowd really does move around during the night- one minute the middle room will be empty, 5 minutes later its packed. The only negative of the night was that there were too many bottoms including a huge buff black guy which just looked ridiculous. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this party to others.

(LOAD) I was disappointed in the party mostly because it is not classified properly on your blog. It's simply not a hot/young crowd- it's an average/30s and 40s crowd. I didn't like the venue at all- a cold, concrete basement with cheap dining chairs the only flat surfaces. The private booths were dirty and cramped. There were probably 35 guys there at 3am but maybe 1 or 2 that were vaguely attractive and would have gained entry into a jock or AM party. Despite being an underwear party about 50% of guys were wearing tops to hide their fat stomachs. There appeared to be no door policy as there were guys in their 50s there. There was very little action mainly because the space is so awkward. The few young attractive guys were sitting around with a look of disgust. I stayed less than 20 minutes. I'm sure this party has it's fans but please update the description so people know what to expect. If you can get into a jock or AM party I certainly wouldn't bother with this one.

I usually show up at NYJOCK about 11 o midnight, when all the hot guys show. I think my friend showed up a little late. As for LOAD-NYC, I apologize for sending anyone there if it wasn't great. Heard great things about the early parties, but maybe the host has become a little lax in his door policy. Mea Culpa. I'll be more careful. Anyway, thanks for the reviewer, and keep them coming guys. THE NYJOCK PARTY--NYJP (Times Square/Garment District) 10pm-5am. Door closes at 4. The host is very discriminating -- and because of it the party now has the hottest guys with the most attitudes (the problem, some of the hot guys are very standoff-ish. It can get annoying, and there’s not always great sex: many guys just standing around looking at each other). If you don't have a killer body and face, you may be ignored by the guys you want the most. That said the guys are amazing: mostly 20s-early 30s,and the party is usually very hot. Guys tend to show up late, and the later you go the better the sex seems to be.. Usually have 50-70 guys attend. Usually once or 2X a month. A safe sex party. For a younger/hot crowd.

AM: An All New After Hours Party (Midtown). AM is a private, selective, and hot party only for good looking in shape guys. Get about 80 guys. This is a SAFE & DRUG FREE PARTY. Late-night party that takes place after you've been everywhere else: Starts after midnight and goes until early morning; Condoms, lube, water, Gatorade and more is provided. Same dude runs this who runs NYJP (and has a similar very hot crowd to NYJP--when it was in Manhattan). A safe sex party.

Hey guys, been hearing good things about THE LOADNYC PARTY, which happens in the East Village at Blue Door Video Basement and also in Park Slope at the "Load Basement." Here's another review of the East Village party...



"Evan, Hey! We corresponded awhile ago after I discovered your blog. I check it out all the time and have found some great parties, all thanks to you! So thanks.

I went to the LOAD Party this past weekend - my first time. I got on their list awhile ago but had never been, but was feeling horny Sat night.

The space isn't how it's described in your posting. It's the basement of the Blue Door video store which I think is close to Bijou cinema but not the same place. You pay for your ticket on the ground floor and then go down the stairs into the play area, which is mostly open space. There are a few chairs and a flat panel TV showing porn. There are also video booths in a hallway off the main space, and you can go up a set of stairs for more video booths. For such a bare setup, I had an amazing time - the hottest guys I've seen in a long time at a sex party/club. I fucked and got fucked numerous times. Up to about 3am most people wore underwear but as the bars closed, guys showed up and kept all their clothes on. A lot of gorgeous guys yet very little attitude - quite a lot of sucking and fucking; there'd be even more if they had any horizontal surfaces. The vibe was more like that of a backroom, especially as it got later and more clothed people joined in. Will go back, and often. One final note, while leaving, one of the attendants said the next party would be two weeks hence - that would be Nov. 13, not the 6th, as you've posted. Thought I'd share as a thank you for all your great work."

So, I've been hearing about this party, but haven't had a chance to pursue the info. THE LOAD NYC PARTY is held at Blue Door Video Basement, and sounds like it could be fun. They are hosting a Halloween Sex Party tonight: HALLOWEEN FREAKFEST.



Also the space is sounds very cool. Blue Door Video Basement is a basement space set very discreetly behind a simple, unmarked door. Here is a decription of the space (http://gaytravel.about.com/od/gaydestinationgalleries/ig/Photos-of-Gay-East-Village-NYC/Club-82-Bijou-Cinema.htm) -- Blue Door Video Basement is "a quirky and happily sleazy little spot... You enter through the ominous unmarked door, descend the brightly lit stairs... Inside there's a 48-seat cinema that used to show gay porn and more recently has played conventional movies, some with an arty bent. Forming an L-shape behind the cinema area is a corridor lined with private booths that contain monitors showing gay porn. These are basically walk-in-closet-size booths - no beds or facilities to speak of. Guys hang out in these rooms, cruise the corridors, etc., etc. Off the main corridor and theater, there's also a TV lounge, some rental lockers, and a bar no longer serving drinks. There's something strangely and endearingly retro about the entire set-up."
